That’s right – Old Snake and Ghost will be sneaking around the East Coast’s largest sci-fi/comic book/film/gaming convention in Atlanta, GA. We’ll be at Dragon Con on Sept 4th and 5th.
If you’re going to be there, you might get the chance to:
Get in Snake’s box!
Give Ghost drinks til he throws up in his mask!
Get some alone time with Makarov in an elevator!
Use Jarod as a human shield!

Hit us up if you’ll be there this year!

Like many fans of Modern War Gear Solid, Snake and Ghost can’t wait for Part 3! So in the meantime, they are infiltrating the internet!

Snake and Ghost will continue their meme mission over the next few weeks. And we’ll continue to gear up for Modern War Gear Solid 3!

Stay tuned for more updates on Part 3! And thanks for watching!

This beast is the DSR-1 sniper system from ehobbyasia.com. It’s one of several new airsoft guns that will be featured in “Modern War Gear Solid – Part 3.”

Both Modern Warfare 2 and Metal Gear Solid 4 have some legendary sniper rifles; this is one of my favorite guns in MGS4. The DSR-1 has a unique bipod mounted on a rail above the barrel – the heavy rifle actually hangs down from the bipod by a gimbal, and gravity keeps the rifle level on uneven terrain. I’m ordering a couple more airsoft guns from ehobbyasia, so expect to see more cool props highlighted in the near future!

Hey, guys.

Here’s a fun new way to break stuff over your friends’ heads (at your own risk, of course)! We first made sugar glass plates for a restaurant fight scene in our feature film, Dogs of Chinatown. They were sticky, messy, and took a long time to make. So our resident mad scientist Andrew Comstock came up with the idea to use plaster of paris. Now our breakaway plates are crisp and clean, easy to paint, and are much less painful than the old sugar glass ones. Which is good, because we want to break over 100 dinner plates in one scene in Beat Down Boogie.

Check out the video above to learn how quick and easy it is to make this great fight scene prop.

Hey guys,
While we’re working on Modern War Gear Solid – Part 3, I just wanted to take a moment to answer frequently asked questions about Parts 1 and 2.

1) Where did you get the guns?
We get our guns from Ehobbyasia.com. They are my favorite airsoft retailer and have an awesome selection of guns and vests. The main guns in Parts 1 and 2 are the G&P Sentry AEG, WE SCAR GBB, and the A&K Masada. I have ordered a couple new guns unique to each franchise for Part 3.

2) What camera equipment and editing software do you use?
Canon 7d. Love it. Awesome value. Still has rolling shutter and moire-pattern problems though.
Blackbird Stabilizer. Love it. Solves most of my issues with the 7d. And it’s fun to use!
A sturdy monopod. We make a camera-on-a-stick and try crazy things with it. Rick calls it the “try-dent.”
For Part 3, Rick is getting a Kessler Crane and Dolly. It’s going to be epic!
We edit with Final Cut Pro.
Rick used Blender and After Effects to create the helicopter shot.

3) How did you make Ghost and Snake’s costumes?
Snake’s jacket and kneepads are motocross armor. His vest and tactical accessories came from Ehobbyasia.com. His hair supplies came from Amazon.com. Snake provided his own boots and we made a custom “Philanthropy” patch by printing it out on paper and gluing it over another patch.

Ghost’s olive drab flight suit came used from a military surplus store. His vest, kneepads, elbow pads, UK patch, scarf, and plain black balaclava came from Ehobbyasia.com. The skull face-mask and earmuffs came from Amazon.com. His outfit in Part 2 included khaki cargo pants and a black ribbed sweater. Ghost provided his own boots.

4) What is the end credits music?
All the music in Parts 1 and 2 is royalty free stock music, except for a cover of the Old Snake Theme performed by Rick Burnett. The end credits music is Anthem for War, composed by Cassidy Bisher. As far as I know that song is only available for licensing, not for individual sale.

5) How much did Parts 1 and 2 cost to make?
If you count all the gear we already had like prop guns and camera equipment it would be pretty expensive. But the money we spent specifically for Parts 1 and 2 was three to five hundred bucks, mostly on pizza delivery.

* * *
Thanks,
and good luck on your Snake and Ghost costumes! ;o)

Soon we’ll be casting for Modern War Gear Solid part 3. We’re going to need a small army – literally – guys and girls to play a small army.

If you:
*are in the North Carolina area.
*have black boots, black pants and a plain black shirt.
*are 18 or older
then you might be eligible to be in the film. We can’t promise a part to everyone, but we’re happy to give MWGS fans the chance to get involved.

We will be shooting on a future weekend in Greensboro (date and time is not yet determined).

If interested, please send an email to beatdownboogiemovie[remove this]@gmail.com
Please include name, email address, phone number, and a photograph. You can also include any pertinent info, like if you are an airsofter, or have a military background, or have special costumes.

As guerilla film-makers, we’re always looking for new locations to shoot scenes. So if you own or represent a building or property in the Raleigh or Greensboro area, and would like to volunteer it for a scene, please email us at beatdownboogiemovie[remove this]@gmail.com

Thanks again everyone!

As a special thanks to fans of Modern War Gear Solid, we’ve put up outtakes and deleted scenes from Parts 1 and 2. Thanks for your enthusiasm and awesome comments. We look forward to your reaction to MWGS Part 3.

We started Beat Down Boogie to get back to our roots as guerrilla filmmakers. We wanted to create a community where fans and filmmakers interact more with one another, instead of being obstructed by corporate middlemen.

We also wanted to thank our amazing cast and crew for all their hard work on Modern War Gear Solid. We are very grateful to all of you who sacrificed your weekends to come out and play with us. It certainly was a lot of fun. Huge thanks to Spike Digital and the always beautiful Elizabeth Lemon for their behind the scenes photography. More thanks to Andrew Comstock, Matthew Sumner and Louis Bekoe for providing us with some great locations to shoot.

Hey everyone,
English subtitles are now available for Modern War Gear Solid Part 1 and 2. We even have a few generous people volunteering to translate the film into other languages. Thanks! We have the text files available for anyone who wants to translate Modern War Gear Solid into their own native tongue. Just contact us at beatdownboogiemovie[remove this]@gmail.com and we’ll send you the text file. You can replace the dialog and send it back and we’ll upload it. Thanks to everyone who is helping their country enjoy the film! As fans of cinema from around the world, we’re all about reaching out to our international friends.

We’re also glad to hook up the hearing-impaired posse. Back in the days of Novalogic’s Delta Force, Micah was on a top squad led by an awesome deaf girl. Here’s to you, Tavia.

Thanks again for watching and commenting.

-The Beat Down Boogie crew.
